Since some people use Apple gear to process sensitive data that they might have to keep private: Apparently macOS now does media analysis (with the odd upload on a false positivesee below) even when when not opted into any of Apple’s online services.
Take care and lock down your network.
Addendum: Another analysis disagrees with the purpose of these network connections. Still, it seems advisable to have something to restrict random system services from doing random network transfers.
